1. What is Adopt-a-Spot?

This program is where individuals, organizations or businesses can actively participate in keeping the City of Ramsey beautiful by volunteering to “adopt” a street, park, trail, lot or designated spot almost anywhere and agreeing to keep the area cleared of litter. 

2. What are the adoptee commitments?

Individuals, organizations, or businesses are asked to “adopt” a street, park, trail, lot, or hotspot almost anywhere within the Ramsey city limits and agree to keep the area cleared of litter for at least two years and pick up litter at least two times per year.

3. What are the City of Ramsey’s commitments?

The City supplies trash bags, reflective vests, and gloves to volunteers and will also give the organization a certificate suitable for framing. Plus, the City will erect a special Adopt-a-Spot recognition sign in your designated area.

4. What are the steps to Adopting-A-Spot?

If you decide to Adopt-a-Spot, select a representative as liaison to the Program Coordinator. Then choose the area your group would like to adopt and complete and return the Agreement Contract. View the application (PDF).

5. What happens to the litter that is collected?

The City deposes collected litter for free! To schedule a pick-up, your liaison will need to call 763-433-9820 to discuss where and when the little should be picked up.

6. Can volunteers do more than just pick up litter?

Yes! Through the City’s approval, volunteers can plant trees, shrubs or flowers along streets and take on other beautification projects. Contact the Program Coordinator and we would be happy to assist you with these projects:

7. How can I find out is there is an Adopt-a-Spot group in the neighborhood?

When you initially inquire, the City will let you know what “spots” have already been adopted.
