Experts from the Monarch Joint Venture will share amazing facts about the monarch butterfly - from egg to migration, learn how a butterfly gets its wings and completes one of the largest migrations on the planet. Come away with some simple tips of how you can help monarch butterflies at home. This event is part of a Monarch Pollinator Series. The first session begins with a foundational background on monarch butterflies, the second session will provide starter plants and information to begin your very own monarch pollinator garden, and the third session will teach you how to get involved in citizen science projects!   3. Virtual Art: Terra Cotta Sun

    Terra Cotta Sun Class Join us via Zoom for a Terra Cotta Sun project. Make a Mexican clay sun to hang in your garden or brighten up your home. You will be guided step by step by the art instructor to create and paint your sun face. It will then be fired at the Rumriver Art Center. Registration is required, space is limited. The cost is $5 per person. Supplies will be picked up at the Art Center (Suite 103). When completed, projects will need to be dropped off at Rumriver Art Center for firing in our kiln and will be ready for pickup in a couple of weeks. Once the clay projects are ready, participants have 14 days to pick up their projects. After 14 days, we will re purpose any projects that are unclaimed.

  4. Snowshoeing in the Parks

    Embrace Winter Weather in Ramsey! Looking for new ways to spend time outdoors, despite Minnesota’s wintery weather? Snowshoeing is a fun and easy way to spend time outside throughout the colder months. It allows you to get off trail and explore new areas, all while getting some low impact exercise. No previous snowshoeing experience is necessary. After just a few minutes of instruction we will make our way out to explore one of Ramsey’s beautiful parks together. Registration is required, space is limited to 15 participants. Cost per person is $3 and includes snowshoes. Youth sizes are available.

    Join for a Morning of Hiking & Birding Even wonder what kind of bird that is flying by, or maybe you just want to take your bird identification skills to the next level? Join us with an experienced bird guide for a leisurely hike as we identify and keep a list of all the bird species observed. You’ll get to gain new friends, and improve your knowledge to watch as more bird species return from their winter migrations. Binoculars will be available if you don’t have your own. Registration is required, space is limited to 15 participants. Cost is $3 per person.

    Funny Bunny Class Join us with the Rumriver Art Center via Zoom for a Funny Bunny project. Make a uniquely patterned bunny using oil pastels and watercolors to make it colorful and ready for spring! You will be guided step by step on how to create a special, one of-a-kind masterpiece. This class is for ages 5 and up. Registration is required, space is limited. The cost is $5 per person. After registration, supplies can be picked up at Rumriver Art Center (2665 4th Ave, Suite 102, Anoka, MN 55303) The Zoom meeting link will be on the confirmation email (from Occasion) sent to your inbox after you submit this registration form.
